Our philosophy is founded upon strong fundamental musical principles that music, and the arts in general, are profoundly essential for spiritual, mental, physical and emotional growth, no matter one’s age. Music is best experienced as a small collaborative art form, it’s powers being most effective when experienced in small groups – our SoundArts Chamber Music Program and semi-private and small group lesson formats epitomize this philosophy. Music education should be deeply enriching and uplifting, passed from teacher to student in the most enthusiastic and nurturing ways possible.
In keeping with great 20th Century music pedagogues Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, Zoltan Kodaly, Karl Orff and others, New World Music Academy is committed to an “every child can” (Dr. Suzuki’s words) philosophy. Our mission is to serve our students and their families in creating musical experiences that develop the whole student, emotionally, creatively, socially as well as musically and last throughout a lifetime.
The academy teaching team is a collection of highly experienced and dedicated instructors with degrees from such institutions as Julliard, Yale, Höchschule fur Musik (Hanover) as well as universities in Japan, Malaysia and Indonesia. We offer lessons in classical & jazz piano, songwriting, all string instruments, guitar & bass, voice (all styles), saxophone, flute, and music theory. Our academy is growing steadily; we have multiple instructors in most instrumental areas that can provide the right musical and personal connection with every student. We can accommodate piano students in German, Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese and Malay.
The Academy is an institutional member of MTNA (Music Teacher’s National Association – US). Likewise, we have instructors affiliated with MTAC (Music Teacher’s Association of California – California), ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music – UK) and the RCM (Royal College of Music – Canada) who can prepare their students to excel in annual external testing programs sponsored by these trusted organizations.
New World Music Academy has established a year-round Chamber Music Program that distinguishes itself in music education in the region. Chamber Music (classical music in which students rehearse and perform together in small groups) is a unique musical genre that NWMA is able to offer its intermediate and advanced students. This program creates strong musical skills and provides rich social and musical experiences that serve emotional and intellectual development in our students. These experiences are designed to expand students’ possibilities and nurture their potential.
