Tuition Policy
- Form of tuition
payment - The New World Music Academy does not accept
cash or personal checks as a way to pay monthly tuition.
The academy accepts Visa, Mastercard and Discover cards
as well as direct debit of checking or savings bank accounts.
However, materials and merchandise can be paid for either
by credit card, cash or check.
- Receipts - Receipts are available by request.
- Flat-rate
tuition - Since some months have 3, 4 or 5 lesson
days, we have averaged the monthly tuition into a budget-friendly
flat rate. There is an additional adjustment for August
and December tuition due to academy summer and winter breaks.
- Discontinuing
lessons - YOU MUST GIVE 30-DAY NOTICE TO DROP A
CLASS. CLASSES MUST BE DROPPED IN WRITING USING OUR "WITHDRAWAL
FORM" AVAILABLE AT THE FRONT DESK. WITHDRAWAL FORMS
MUST BE RETURNED TO THE FRONT DESK.
- Refunds - There are no refunds or transfer of tuition (paid lessons that were missed in one session/month do NOT apply to future lessons) for classes you’re scheduled to attend whether or not you attend the class, and there are no refunds for registration fees.
- Registration
fee - There is a one-time registration fee of $25.00.
Missed Lessons
If special circumstances/sickness prevent
a student from attending a group lesson, lesson sheets will
be mailed or emailed home. Each student is allowed 2 make-up
lessons per year. Make-ups are done at the convenience of
the instructor's schedule and must be arranged through the
front desk. For lessons canceled with less than 24hrs notice,
no matter the excuse, make-ups will be arranged at the discretion
of the academy. "No shows" - cases in which students
have given no notice of not attending a lesson by Email or
telephone at any point in time prior to the lesson - will
be reviewed on a case-by-case basis; the academy reserves
the right to provide a make-up lesson or not.
In the case of group lessons, if a student
misses a class for any reason other than illness, an attempt
will be made to place that student in a similar class on a
different day in the week if possible. If that option is not
available, the student will be given a 30-minute lesson at
the convenience of the instructor. In any case, a lesson plan
will be emailed or mailed home that will cover the missed
lesson so the student does not fall behind.
In the case of either private or group lessons, the academy
allows a maximum of TWO make-up lessons per student per year.
If you have any questions, our front desk staff will be happy
to discuss it with you.
Make-up lessons/prorated tuition is
offered for teacher absences.
Summer
Existing students will be charged continuously month by month throughout the summer (mainly July) according to the tuition information for his or her instrument as noted above. When a new student enrolls in the summer session, they will be charged a single summer session tuition plus registration fee. When the fall semester commences, new summer students will be paying tuition according to the tuition information relevant to his or her instrument as noted above. The academy staff will do what we can to accommodate family schedules but cannot promise to retain your/your child's class day/time from session to session.
IMPORTANT: Students
pay regular tuition for June and July if continuing lessons
for the summer. If not enrolled in Summer classes, or if they
decide to "take a break" and are not continuously
enrolled at any point throughout the Summer, there will be
a $45 "holding fee" for the student until returning
for classes - this holding fee will be credited to the student's
account when lessons resume. Since the academy is closed for
its Summer Break in August, tuition is prorated accordingly.
