Faculty Recital - "It was wonderful!"

Many members of the New World Music Academy faculty performed at the Parkview, an assisted living facility in Pleasanton, on Sunday April 25th. The room was packed - both academy students and residents of The Parkview were enthralled with the performances by Melissa Farley, Ben Anjo, Mike Ramos, Didier Bouvet, Rodin Akerman, Katalin Kincses, Cass Panuska, Melanie O'Reilla, Lisa DiTiberio and Mark Anderson. This was the first performance for the New World Jazz Ensemble (Melanie O'Reilly on vocals, Ben Anjo on piano and Mike Ramos on guitar), which was a great success!

In response to the concert, the Parkview responded with the following directed to academy director Mark Anderson: "I want to tell you the residents just loved the performance, they said it was the best we had here. Please thank everyone involved for taking the time to come here at the Parkview to perfom for the residents. It was wonderful." - Patricia Rawlings, Parkview Events Coordinator

Visit us at some great upcoming events

The Academy has got a few events coming up and we want everyone - current students, prospective students and lovers of music and music education - to be there.

The first is our First Wednesdays Street Party presence. On July 1st, our booth generated a lot of activity with student and teacher performances. We hope you can come visit us at the August 5th First Wednesdays event in Downtown Pleasanton. We have musical gifts and lots of incentives for both existing and prospective students. For more information on First Wednesdays, click here.

Our big event this summer will be our Open House scheduled for Saturday August 15th between noon and 3pm. The Open House will be held at our academy and will offer music, food, fun, games, prizes, sample classes, computer music demonstrations and much more. If you want a first-hand look at what's happening at the academy, this is the event to attend.

GROUP PIANO TUITION REDUCTION!

Exciting News! As the world around us becomes more expensive in light of the financial restrictions and insecurities of many, the academy is taking an opposite and more supportive approach: instead of raising tuition on our one-hour weekly group piano classes, we are reducing them from $195 to $169 per month!

Let's just say that we are committed to keeping the community involved in music.

Join us for our annual FACULTY RECITAL! Saturday April 25th 2pm at Valley Community Church, 4455 Del Valle Parkway, Pleasanton 94566

No tickets are required - this is a FREE concert and is open to the public. Our academy always uses recitals as an opportunity to give back to the community in the form of a food drive. Therefore, we do ask that you bring as much non-parishable food as possible to benefit the Alameda County Food Bank. During times like these, our food bank supplies are being stretched thin so please help this worthy cause.

Performers include: Mark Anderson, piano; Cass Mann, soprano; Ben Anjo, piano; Melanie O'Reilly, jazz vocalist; Janelle Fontela, flute; Kelly Kreutter, piano and more.

Call 925.462.5400 if you have any questions about this event.

2008 Holiday Recitals

...were a GREAT success! Congratulations to all our terrific and talented students and instructors for a fun and rewarding weekend!

Our Holiday Recitals took place Saturday December 6th and Sunday December 7th. Pianists, vocalists, guitarists, violinists, cellists and more came together to the great delight of family and friends in the academy recital hall. BRAVO! to all.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: The academy does NOT charge a recital fee but does ask that all families contribute to our canned food drive on the days of the recitals.

Reminder for adults: Have some cash on hand at the recitals to take part in the many raffles that will be offered throughout the weekend!!

Looking back at 2008

It's time to start preparing for the Academy's upcoming recitals Saturday December 6th and Sunday December 7th. Vocalists, Instrumentalists and Danielle's Private piano students will be performing on Saturday December 6th beginning at 2pm. All Saturday performers should arrive between 1:40 and 1:50 with their music (with names clearly printed on the cover) and instrument. It is especially important for singers to NOT leave your instrument at home! This has happened in the past to the great embarassment of the performer!

Sunday December 7th will featuer all Little Mozarts, semi-private and private students of all other piano instructors. Little Mozarts should arrive between 10:40 and 10:50am for an 11am start. Next, Piano Group A performers should arrive between 11:40 and 11:50 for a 12 noon start and finally Piano Group B performers should arrive between 1:40 and 1:50 for the final phase of the afterrnoon.

Effective October 2008 - ALL new students who register before December 15th will receive a FREE New World Music Academy Music Tote Bag, a $10.00 value and an academy binder...no strings attached! These attractive and well-constructed tote bags are perfect for carrying music, binder and other class materials! The binder is the perfect place to store lesson plans and other important lesson materials.

Summer 2008 - The first half of 2008 was packed with musical fun; music posters, May recitals and our Student Appreciation Day at Robertson Park in Livermore were all great successes! Originally, the academy was scheduled to be closed throughout August for Summer Break, however in response to our students and their families requesting to continue lessons, we have stayed open and will continue to operate right through the month of August for those who wish to continue lessons. We've never been so happy about NOT having a break - kudos to those continuing students and their families! We are now scheduling new and existing classes for Fall.
Call or email the academy to schedule your time-slot(s) today!
